Retail Supervisor

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The DRC Retail Supervisor will support the Director of Retail in monitoring shop needs, assisting in the transfer of product knowledge, driving customer service efforts and being a champion for creating the environment and experience desired for DRC customers and employees. They will be responsible for overseeing two retail spaces. Focusing on active problem solving and culture development, their role will be more fluid in aiding each shop's success.

In addition, the DRC Retail Supervisor should expect to fill gaps if needed as well as communicate schedule gaps and needs to the Director of Retail.

Deeper Roots Coffee has always held a passion for coffee, education, and customer service.  The DRC RS will help to promote this passion and spend time with the education team and retail team at HQ to help bridge connection and communication.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive positivity and collaboration amongst the team

  • Welcome new employees to the team and go through the proper shop orientation procedures

  • Be an advocate for DRC and our new products and initiatives

  • Support the DOR and HR with employee issues and improvements

  • Lead employee engagement conversations

  • Facilitate employee performance reviews and corrections with guidance from HR

  • Streamline communications between baristas, shop leads and upper management

  • Fill in and/or coordinate coverage for call offs; approve schedule changes for shift swaps

  • Coordinate regular shop meetings

  • Keep Square interface up to date with correct offerings

  • Collects shop deposits once a week, bring backup change as needed

  • Reconciles any issues with the nightly deposit

  • Continue to improve and integrate daily/weekly checklists

  • Work with staff on tasting and developing coffee skills

  • Be a resource for DRC product knowledge for staff, educate answer questions, implement ongoing education strategies

  • Build community relationships within designated shops neighborhoods

  • Coordinate and execute community events and partnerships

  • Maintain ServSafe Manager Certification

  • Ensure clean and orderly space

  • Monitor the shops for areas of improvement for both flow, schedule needs ,and customer service opportunities

  • Communicate to DOR needs of the shop; maintenance issues, organizational items, cleaning products

  • Communicate regularly with Lead Baristas providing feedback on role performance, staff performance, training needs

  • Integrate and uphold needed systematic maintenance plans

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Organized

  • Timely

  • Strong interpersonal skills: able to work with and communicate with various personalities

  • Ability to handle conflict and resolve customer complaints/handle stressful situations

  • Attention to detail; able to see problem areas and create a plan of action to fix the need

  • Previous café or restaurant experience

  • Previous management  or lead experience in a retail

SCHEDULE/HOURS:

40hrs / week with one weekend day

Schedule is: M-Su; Open to close. Flexibility in availability is a must. Ideally a set 5-day schedule with flex when needed.

Salary: 

Starting Salary: $45,000 / year
